Fernleaf Dill is an excellent annual compact and shorter cultivar of dill ideal for small herb gardens or growing in containers. Expect a mature height of approximately 18". It is also slower to bolt than other varieties. This means gardeners can expect to harvest leaves for a longer season before the plant goes to seed. Once it goes to seed, the flavor of the plant changes.

Dill is not only a great culinary herb, but it is also a host plant for the Eastern Black Swallowtail Butterfly. With that being said, please inspect your dill carefully before harvest to avoid damaging eggs or caterpillars. These important pollinators benefit your edible garden.

Dill can be a great early spring herb in the garden before hot summers. In Central Florida, we have been able to extend the growing season into summer by moving dill into shadier areas. However, dill grows best when getting 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.

It prefers to have moist but well draining soils. This can be a frustrating soil condition to achieve here in Florida outside of container gardening.

Native to Mediterranean

Likes 6-8 hours of sun we have grown it in partial sun, partial shade, mostly shade.

Prefers consistently moist but well draining soils. We suggest raised beds or containers.

Foliage can reach approx 18" tall.
