This Florida Native Hibiscus can be grown as a specimen plant or multiples can be planted as a hedge. Mature heights are 5-8 feet tall. It is a long-lived perennial that will reseed itself if in a good location. It prefers moist soils and does best on the edge of wetlands. It does not want to be submerged so is best used on the borders of wetlands. The white or red flowers are a favorite for pollinators. It is the host plant for the following:

Larval host of  Gray Hairstreak, Painted Lady Butterfly, Common Checkered Skipper and Tropical Checkered Skipper butterflies and  four moths : Pearly Wood Nymph, Yellow Scallop Moth, Io Moth,  and Delightful Bird-Dropping Moths.
