Wild Sweet Basil is a really cool native plant. The flowers attract a wide variety of pollinators and they are definitely attractive in the landscape. While small, they accent the green foliage well. Similar to store-bought basil, the leaves of this plant are edible and very fragrant. It has been used as a spice and in teas. But wait, there's more! Oils from this plant can be turned into a mosquito repellent and even kill mosquito larvae! It will repel other insects too. Not only is this great for Florida summers, but Wild basil makes a great companion plant to help trick garden pests from finding your prized vegetables.
