Seed packet contains approx 50-100 seeds. We like to start seeds in shallow seed trays using sandy mediums. Lightly cover seeds with medium. Takes anywhere from 7-21 days to germinate. Due to cross pollination we can not guarentee that all seeds will germinate into red flowers.
Tropical Sage is a fun FL native perennial wildflower that can be found in red, pink, and white flowers. The flowers produce seeds that readily reseed themselves but are also an important food source for wild birds. Various pollinators are attracted the the nectar producing flowers. Tropical sage prefers full sun and moist but well draining soils.
This plant can reach up to 4' tall with the flowers being at the tallest point. This makes it great for being behind low growing wildflowers.
We have seen hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators enjoy Tropical Sage. The flowers seem to bloom all year in all light conditions. We love to grow them intermixed in a wildflower garden to add reds, pinks, and whites. We also love to grow them amongst the understory of our food forest to attract pollinators.
