This is the Florida native species porterweed. Unlike commerically sold varieties, native porterweed does not grow upright and tall. It tends to sprawl like a ground cover. It has pretty blue-purple flowers that butterflies and bees love.  Flowers are edible and taste like mushrooms. Host plant for the tropical buckeye that can be found in South Florida. We recommend planting this porterweed instead of the non-native species.
